A charity auction held in Mawnan Smith recently has raised thousands of pounds for Cornwall Hospice Care.
The event, at the Red Lion pub, was a huge success, with standing room only due to the high turnout, and a final total of £2,500 raised for the charity.
Eddie and Lisa Hoogervorst, landlords of the Red Lion said: “We would like to thank the generosity of local businesses and residents, which meant that auction items came flooding in.
“On the evening local support ensured that the Red Lion was full of people bidding and contributing to the success of the event.”
Cornwall Hospice Care was selected to benefit from the proceeds in memory of John Tremaine, a supporter of the annual auction and a “very great friend” of everyone involved. The charity provides adult hospice care to the people of Cornwall.
Specialist teams at its two hospices, Mount Edgcumbe in St Austell and St Julia’s in Hayle, aim to provide a holistic approach to the care of people living with life limiting illnesses by providing medical, practical and spiritual treatment and support.
