Panto-in-the-pub is returning to Penryn for another week of performances inspired by a 17th century poem.

The production, entitled Paradise Lost!, will be performed by Penryn Community Theatre at the town's Seven Stars Pub from next Saturday, February 2 until the Saturday following.

Based on the 1667 poem of the same name by John Milton, Paradise Lost! promises to be a journey from “the beginning of time to closing time,” according to one of its writers Simon Caro.

He said: “Watch in awe as the truth behind the creation unfolds 'just like that', see the greatest demon-drop, and hold onto your very beings as Adam and Eve battle with the ultimate temptation.

“Will Satan and Beelzebub and Bob's ploy to spice up our innocents' lives win the day? Or will Adam and Eve be able to resist the fruits of the tree of knowledge of good and evil?

“What on earth could happen next? Yes, that's right boys and girls, the consequences of mankind's greatest booboo will be perform live on stage in front of your lucky eyes - for eight nights only.”

Written and directed by Dominic Power, Simon Caro and Johnny Milton the panto is suitable for ages 14 and over.

Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost £6 in advance from The Seven Stars on 01326 373573.

Penryn Community Theatre's annual Panto-in-the-Pub was started 12 years ago by founder members Suki Haughton and the then landlady, Julie Brinkof. This year the cast is drawn not only from the local community and students from Falmouth University's Performance Centre but also the renowned Miracle Theatre actress Miss Rosie Hughes who will be appearing as the Holy Spirit.
