THE Fishermen’s Mission has seen its bank balance boosted by more than £2,200 thanks to Seasalt’s Christmas charity campaign.
Due to its strong coastal links, Seasalt was keen to raise money and awareness for the charity and so invited people to design a coastal-themed Christmas card.
More than 300 people got involved with five of them winning the chance to see their designs sold in Seasalt’s 13 shops across the South West plus a £50 voucher to spend instore.
The winning five designs were chosen by Gina Moore, regional fundraising manager for the Fishermen’s Mission; Jane Chetwynd, from Falmouth University and Seasalt designer, Rebecca Rudman.
Ms Moore said: “The charity is absolutely delighted to be supported by Seasalt. We were thrilled with the sales of Christmas cards produced by them and sold in their stores and online in aid of the Mission.
“An amazing £2,229.50 was raised for our welfare and caring working amongst our fishing communities here in Cornwall.”
Neil Chadwick, Seasalt’s creative director, added: “Customers absolutely loved the home-spun creativity of the cards as well as the charity element. We’re delighted we were able to raise this fantastic sum for the Fishermen’s Mission. We’ll be continuing our support for the charity through other ventures in the coming months.”
