The Falmouth Beach Hotel sitel is being put up for sale after 30 years in one family.
Owner Hazel Evans has instructed Christie & Co to prepare the site for sale.
Christie & Co said the hotel, which burnt down last May, faced “an uncertain future.”
In a statement the company said: “Since the fire she has been carefully considering the hotel rebuild project, her future plans and possible retirement from the hospitality industry.
“Consequently, she has proposed a closure of the site and rebuilding work.”
A potential purchaser who will redevelop the hotel site is being looked for. In the meantime, Mrs Evans is working closely with her professional advisors.
Plans for the rebuilding of the hotel were granted conditional approval only this month.
