A man has died in a house fire at St Breward, Bodmin.
Firefighters were called out to the bungalow at 6.40pm on Friday, with three fire appliances, two from Bodmin and one from Delabole, a water carrier from Wadebridge and further resource from Delabole sent to the scene.
A fire and rescue spokesman said while resources were still en route to the 'persons reported' call, further information received by Cornwall Fire & Rescue Control Room said two properties were on fire and a further appliance from Wadebridge was sent.
He said: "On arrival there was found to be a semi detached bungalow, measuring eight metres by six metres, well alight which had spread to the adjoining property. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus initially used two main jets and a high pressure hosereel at the scene.
"As the incident progressed a total of eight firefighters at one time were committed at the incident, using three jets and a high pressure hosereel jet, the building by this time had partially collapsed.
"At approximately 7pm the main fire had been extinguished but crews remained on site throughout the night damping down, the occupant of the premises at this time was still unaccounted for.
"Later in the evening a body was confirmed found at the scene."
He added that a full fire investigation team from Cornwall Fire & Rescue will be working with Devon & Cornwall police throughout today (Sat).
