The service on Sunday was taken by Sheila Taylor assisted by worship leader Margaret Dancer.
The opening hymn was “God is here as we His people”. Prayers of thanksgiving and confession were said thanking God that He forgives us. Psalm 121 was read by the congregation. Margaret led prayers of intercession praying for anyone suffering difficulties around the world – those in our communities needing the Foodbank; those who are homeless, especially in the cold and wet weather and those serving in Afghanistan and those who will soon be going there.
Cynthia Prior read the lesson from Luke chapter 8 v 22-25 “Jesus calms the storm”. Sheila spoke in her sermon about peace in life’s storms. Peace sometimes comes to us through stillness or in the scenery around us or knowing true peace of mind. Where do we turn to in the storms of life? We turn to God who is always there for us.
The last hymn was “Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?” Organist was Marcus Mueller. Tea and coffee was served at the end of the service.
The service on Sunday will be taken by Gordon Dyer at 10.30am.
