President for the day, Des Moore, welcomed the speaker, Gareth Jones and his family from Newquay and visitors from Solihull.
There will be seminars each Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Christadelphian Hall, Church Row, Porthleven looking at the gospel in Isaiah and everyone is welcome at this study group. On Sunday afternoon Gareth looked at how the life of Joseph mirrored the life of Jesus; he was a favourite son, a servant, and a ruler and brought salvation to his family. The brothers of Joseph did not recognise him in Egypt and Gareth asked everyone to ask themselves how well they knew Jesus as they took the communion to remember him.
After sharing tea Gareth spoke in the evening asking “Are we obeying God?” Gareth used the story of Saul, the first King of Israel and how he was influenced more by the people than by God. We have the same choices today to follow the instructions laid down by God. Gareth looked at the life of Jesus by comparison and how Jesus learned obedience through suffering and brought salvation to all. Jesus called everyone to follow him and learn to love as he loves us.
