The chances of a 'Devonwall' cross border seat has been dealt a killer blow.
Plans for a constituency that spanned the Devon and Cornwall border are a non-starter after a House of Commons vote on boundary changes.
Its loss also damages the Conservatives chances at the next election, as the changes across England would have handed an advantage to the party.
All three Cornish Lib Dems voted against the plan. Andrew George MP said: "I stuck to my guns and fought for Cornwall. Others just bottled it, you know who I mean."
The vote was lost by 334 to 292, a majority 42.
