Contested plans to build 60 flats on a former gas works site in Penzance have been given the go ahead.

Churchill Retirement Living applied to build sheltered housing for the elderly alongside five commercial units last February but the town council opposed the plans as it was felt that this was "not the best use" for the site.
Dick Cliffe from the Penzance Chamber of Commerce would fill an "ugly void" on Wharf Road and provide millions of pounds to the local economy.
Travelodge had previously looked at taking over the site and their plans were given the nod last January, but the deal fell through shortly afterwards.
Churchill then came forward with its retirement homes plan, which has been approved on appeal after gettting the thumbs up from a government inspector.
Cornwall Council had rejected the proposals in June.
A spokesman for Planning Issues Ltd, who are behind the development, said the "much-needed" housing would get underway by April and be completed by next May.
