Falmouth police have warned local residents to be on their guard when receiving cold-calls following several reports of people falling victim to scams.
In at least two incidents this week, people have been conned by others pretending to offer PPI payouts.
PCSO Sean McDonnell. said: “On both occasions, the victims parted with their hard earned cash.
PPI compensation is very much in the news and it is very tempting to go along with these scammers who offer big payouts, and they can be very convincing.
Many people are entitled to PPI payouts, however, always check with your bank or original loan provider before entering into any agreements. Please be aware of any cold callers and at no time give anyone your bank details over the phone.”
If you feel you have been a victim or have concerns regarding bogus or fraudulent callers there is now a dedicated Action Fraud helpline, 030012342040.
