Four students from Helston Community College have been offered places at a prestigious summer school run by the University of Oxford.
The UNIQ Summer School is a highly competitive programme, which this year saw 4,400 students applying for just 850 places.
The programme, which runs on July 14, is aimed at students who have achieved significantly above the national average and made a strong application.
Students will attend seminars, interview workshops and receive help on an eventual university application to Oxford.
Those winning places from Helston are Jack Reynolds, David Hosking, Lisa Gong and Annie Taylor.
Meanwhile Leo MacKenzie has been selected from more than 1,200 eligible applicants to attend the Sutton Trust US summer school programme and will be spending a week at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, all expenses paid.
The Sutton Trust said that they were “highly impressed” by Leo’s “suitability and commitment to the programme”, which was shown in his original application.
