Young members of 1st Sithney Green Brownies and their Guide helpers were given their own guided tour when they visited RNAS Culdrose.
The group, which is based out of Trannack Primary School, met members of the 771 search and rescue squadron including Lieutenant Commander Andy Knight and Martin Roberts.
The youngsters got to look around the rescue helicopter and were told about the squadron's role in saving lives.
Andy and Martin also explained about the importance of being careful in places like beaches and on cliffs, and gave reasons why accidents could happen.
They also talked about how to escape safely from floods and be safe swimming in the sea.
Some of the youngsters had harnesses put on them, to feel what it would be like to be winched to safety.
Jan Crooks, Brown Owl and leader of 1st Sithney Green Brownies, said: “The evening was a lot of fun and very informative.”
The evening certainly had an impact for the Brownies, with two of them, Becky and Alice, going so far as to say: “We had great fun and we want to be helicopter pilots in the Navy when we grow up.”
Ivy and Lyla agreed: “It was so interesting to hear about all the rescues.”
