A punt rower with no life jacket and failed engine in Falmouth inner harbour sparked an inshore lifeboat launch on Tuesday.
With Tuesday evening seeing some of the roughest conditions seen in Falmouth's inner harbour for a long time, the crew got a call from Falmouth Coastguard just before 7pm.
The coastguard had received numerous reports from people ashore who were concerned about the man's welfare, especially as he was "not wearing a lifejacket".
It requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of 14ft punt with one person on board broken down and in difficulties due to the "adverse weather in Falmouth Inner Harbour".
The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue was also tasked to assist.
An RNLI spokesman: "The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 19:05 and headed up the harbour locating the punt off the visitor's yacht haven at 19:08.
"A tow line was passed to the punt and it was towed to the pontoon at the end of North Quay where it was safely moored at 19:15.
The Inshore Lifeboat also moored up on the nearby pontoon so that they could obtain additional information from the casualty but at 19:20 they were requested to proceed to a second incident in the harbour.
The occupant of the punt had been heading into the harbour when his seagull outboard had failed. He had then tried to row back to the shore but had been driven down through the moorings by the high wind and sea conditions.
