The service on the first Sunday of Penticost was taken by Pastor Mike Ely, assisted by Margaret Dancer who read the lesson and assisted with holy communion.
The first hymn was “For the beauty of the earth.” In prayers of thanksgiving prayers were said for Penticost and for forgiveness and thanking God that He is always there for us.
In his sermon Mike spoke about his experiences of taking funerals. How some people like to keep religion to be kept down to the minimum and he asked is religion in the head? Is faith in the heart? Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth and the light.” What does our faith do for us? He asked.
In prayers of intercession prayers were said for justice, liberty, peace and those who are in sorrow and those sick in body and mind.
The final hymn was “I know that my redeemer lives.” Organist was Markus Mueller.
The service on Sunday will be the Rev Peter Facer and will include Holy Baptism. There will be no pop-in on Bank Holiday Monday.
