The choir have enjoyed a busy week-end entertaining the Penryn Federation Association on Friday and Edgcumbe Chapel on Sunday.
On behalf of the Penryn Federation Mary May, Cornwall Councillor for Penryn welcomed and introduced the choir whose programme included a wide variety of musical items that highlighted the vocal range and versatility of this long-established choir. Individual solos were performed by Elaine Miller, Linda Beynon/with guitar, Amanda Ward MD and the choir’s accompanist, Rico Gerber enthralled the audience with his piano solo. Humorous verses were rendered by Ann Libby and Rose Webber.
Edgcumbe Chapel held their Gift Day on Sunday and Mabe Ladies were invited to round off the day with a concert in order to help boost chapel funds. Not only did the choir and individual artistes enjoy singing at Edgcumbe Chapel but the programme was well received by the audience. Mary Ferris, church secretary, welcomed the choir and Clive Mitchell, church steward, thanked the choir for providing such a wonderful evening’s entertainment. The choir was only too pleased to help raise funds for Edgcumbe Chapel which is still supported by a small faithful group of worshippers. Jean Wattis, choir’s chairperson, thanked the chapel for all the work of members and friends in providing such a sumptuous supper following the concert.
Mabe Ladies are pleased to be attracting new members and for those wishing to give the choir a try visit our website: mabeladieschoir.org If you’re not sure then come along to a practice on a Wednesday evening at 7.30pm at Penryn Methodist Church schoolroom.
