What an enjoyable evening we had at the May meeting. We joined together with Gunwalloe WI for our resolution meeting, which was proposed by our County Advisor, Avril Woolcock who spoke to us on the sad decline of our town centres and high streets and how we could make changes to our shopping to support them. All the members voted in favour of the resolution.
President of Gunwalloe, Dot Rogers then spoke about group meetings and whether we wanted to carry on with these, which we decided we wanted to. Dot will look into an outing for us all to Trevool Gardens, the date of which will be announced.
Our birthday celebration this year will be at Trevascus on June 11, leaving the band room car park St Keverne at 11am.
Following the business part of the evening we had a pasty and delicious supper provided by members. The competition 'A picture of Flora Day': 1, Marcia Williams; 2, Mrs M Dale; 3, Rita Kelly.
For the second part of the evening we were entertained by the Manacle Voices. They sang a variety of songs old and new from around the world. We were encouraged to join in and they had the members in stitches at their and our efforts at yodelling and the song 'Favourite Things,' which was the Manacle Voices own version which included false teeth in glasses and creaky knees etc. Most of the 40 members in the audience could relate to some part of the song!
Our next meeting will take place on June 20 in the Methodist Hall, St Keverne, at 7.30pm.
New members are always given a warm welcome, for more information telephone Rita Kelly, 01326 280498.
