WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Members joined with Germoe WI to discuss the NFWI Resolution aimed at safeguarding our town centres and shops, and both WI's were in favour.
Prior to the meeting members discussed future events, with members reporting on activities ie the spring council meeting. Members are looking forward to the birthday visit to Porthleven, a tea party visit of Eunice Woolcock, a former member who has shot to fame on recent national cookery programmes and to a performance by "Kids R Us" at St Ives in August. Also July 16 there will be a visit to the Lizard and also a walk round Clowance in August. After business there was an enjoyable photographic quiz showing Cornish scenes, a bring-and-buy and excellent refreshments.
A small number of members travelled to meet their Lostwithiel WI friends. This started with coffee in the Pinetum Gardens and followed by a walk round the lake and a picnic lunch. At Par Indoor Market many items were bought. They then joined the Carclaze and Lostwithiel WI's for a splendid tea before travelling home. The weather was at last spring like and the members had an enjoyable day.
