A woman who admitted drinking “a considerable amount” before driving was arrested by police after she called them from a telephone kiosk. She told officers: “OK. I drove. I am guilty.”
Jennifer Mary Stamp, aged 47, of West Street, Penryn, pleaded guilty at Truro’s magistrates’ court to drink driving at Penryn on March 22.
Gail Hawksley, for the CPS, said officers found her screaming in the street outside the telephone kiosk. Her car was still warm and they had CCTV evidence of her from Truro earlier in the evening. She had a previous conviction for drink driving in 2011.
Neil Lewin, her solicitor, told the magistrates she had some issues and had been involved with mental health services. Sporadic use of alcohol got her into trouble and at the moment she was leading a chaotic lifestyle, in need of help.
Stamp was fined £110 and £70 costs and surcharge, and banned from driving for three years. She also received a drink banning order for a year.
