A long standing member of Falmouth Coastguard was rewarded for two decades of service this week.
Watch Officer Ken Bazeley received his 20 years service medal from coastguard chief Peter Dymond on Thursday.
“I felt very grateful and humbled to receive the medal,” Ken said.
“The support of my teammates, family and colleagues got me to this moment.”
Ken started as an auxiliary coastguard, as it was known, in 1992 and began at the Falmouth Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in the year 2000.
For the past ten years he has undertaken the national diving role for the centre.
As he accepted his award Ken spoke of the “dedication and unselfish help” given to the public by the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT), with whom he volunteers.
“Well done Ken,” a CRT spokesman said.
