The 10 day Fal River festival sets sail today, with 150 events varying from music and drama, the arts and heritage to gig racing, swimming, walking and lots more on offer.
The festival was established in 2006 and this is the eighth year visitors and locals alike can embrace the places, people, history, culture, sport and industry that are connected by this very Cornish river.
The diverse mix of events will take place at dozens of locations around the Fal River, with the festival offering something for everyone.
The main event today is the opening ceremony of the festival which sees the Beer Fleet sail down the Fal to Falmouth. This year a record number of boats, including an historic, century-old tall ship,
The grand entrance will be at approximately 5.30pm. As the Beer Fleet enters Falmouth harbour, the A&P Tugs open their water cannons for a spectacular entrance.
The fleet lands at Custom House Quay at approximately 6pm. On berthing at Custom House Quay, guests are asked to make their way to Events Square, along with anyone else that would like to join the parade.
On Saturday, highlights include the ever popular Fal Fish Festival which will now be running for three days.
Day three, Sunday is packed full of highlights, from the fun packed Fal Fish Festival to Falmouth Boat Jumble and promises to be a fantastic occasion with something for everyone to enjoy.
