Viva Voce the university chamber choir were guest artists at last Saturday’s concert and provided a varied programme of interesting cappella music. They were conducted by Isabelle Taylor, also a chorister in the parish church choir. A good number of people were present including foreign visitors.
On Saturday, Charlotte Osman Loxley (flute), accompanied by Michael Hoeg. Lance Foy will play some organ solos.
The Rev Stephen Tudgey celebrated at the 8.30am said communion and the sung eucharist for Trinity Sunday assisted by Reader Jan Winslade. Lessons were read by Valerie Pitts and Wendy Tyley. The choir sang the Trinity anthem “Firmly I believe and truly” by Philip Tomblings. The service concluded with the organ voluntary “The arrival of the Queen of Sheba” by Handel.
The Rev Roy Howe officiated at sung evensong, Mike White and Patrick Clarke read lessons. The choir sang the anthem “Lead me Lord” by Wesley. Soloist was Contanze Rief, her parents on holiday from Germany were present in the congregation to listen. The final voluntary was a chorale prelude by Healy Willan.
Events this week: Thursday, 9.30am, Charlies Angels; 10.30am, said communion; 11.15am, parish prayer group. Sunday, 8.30am, said communion; 10.30am, sung eucharist; 6pm, sung evensong.
