Members of the choir are “flying high” following a resounding win at Wall Music Festival on Thursday, May 16.
The choir sang two contrasting pieces, “A Blossom Falls” and “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and were awarded 92 and 91 marks respectively. The choir was invited by the committee of the festival to return to take part in the Gala Concert on the following Saturday, but sadly, due to other commitments this was not possible.
Members would like to thank Vivienne Nicholas, deputy musical director, for all her hard work prior to the festival and congratulate her on this great achievement. Our thanks also go to accompanist, George Smith, for his dedicated support.
The choir are looking to the future with renewed vigour and is about to embark on a variety of new music projects, which can be enjoyed by both the young and old. There are concert dates already in our diaries for 2014 and the bookings in place for the rest of this year will certainly keep us busy.
Bea Geddes, musical director, has since being appointed been delighted to welcome new members. More singers are wanted, so ladies if you like to “Sing for Pleasure” perhaps you would like to come along and join us. We are a friendly group of all ages and musical abilities and you will be made very welcome.
