On Sunday morning the preacher, Tony Nicholas, mentioned at the beginning of the service how he liked coming to Breaney; he said he could recall going to the Breage Old Chapel before the renovation, when on one occasion Mr Wills the organist, Mrs Wills and himself were the complete congregation!
Today, Trinity Sunday, it was the anniversary of the re-opening in 1992. Chris Smith of Trewennack Methodist Congregation was morning preacher, Paul Jenkin, organist, with Paul Coombs and his young assistant on bongos; words were displayed on the screen. Mr Smith concentrated on the word ‘Creation’ and ‘New Creation’. Having sung ‘Happy Birthday to Breaney’, he certainly put the youngsters into party mood. There were various quizzes with creation, the main theme, what order according to Geneses chapter one and chapter two verse three with no cheating, most people could answer day seven (God Rested) but with help or whatever of the young children, it was soon noticed there were rewards to be won, no shortage of children volunteers. A popular song ‘I am a New Creation’, certainly enjoyed by all age’s - all the hymns came from Songs of Fellowship. Prayers said were slotted in between other items.
The offering was taken up by Anna Harrington. Most of the congregation later shared fellowship over a coffee, tea or cold drink.
There was no evening service, however, there was an invitation to Helston Chapel to join them at the 6pm service.
