Cornwall Council’s new chairman and vice chairman are writing to Cornish charities to invite them to apply to become the chairman’s adopted charity for the next twelve months.
Traditionally the chairman of the council has adopted a specific charity as the focus for fund raising activities.
This year newly elected chairman John Wood and vice-chairman Ann Kerridge are keen to support small Cornish charities, and are calling on anyone interested in being considered to contact them.
“We are very aware of the tremendous amount of good work which is done by local charities in Cornwall” said John Wood.
“When making our decision on which charity to adopt we will be looking at where our support can make the most difference, both in terms of financial support and in helping to raise public awareness of their work.
Any Cornish charity which would like to be considered should write to Sandra Maddern, PA to the chairman and vice-chairman, Room 3E:01, New County Hall, Truro, TR1 3AY, before 14 June.
