The Falmouth Hotel will be staging a garden fete in August as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations and is asking people to come forward with their memories, in words and photos, which will be added to a planned display.
The idea is to create a tableau of stories and pictures depicting events and styles seen at the hotel over the past century-and-a-half, but to do this, the help of local residents is needed.
Anyone with anything they would like to contribute to the display should contact the hotel.
The garden fete will be held on August 4 and is to be held within the hotel’s extensive grounds, unless wet when as much of the event as possible will be moved indoors. Among the attractions planned are a fairground organ, chair-plane rides, swing boats, a coconut shy, candy floss and much more.
There is still room for more stalls and games, however, and local organisations are invited to come forward with proposals for fundraising stalls and events. The hotel will not make a charge, but is asking that all stall-holders make a donation to its chosen charities, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Anyone with stories and photos or wanting to add to the event’s activities should contact Jane Williams on 01326 312671 or email jane.williams@richardsonhotels.co.uk.
