HUNDREDS of women in Penzance made a defiant stand against cancer by taking part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at the Harbour on Wednesday.

The formidable army of mums, daughters, sisters, grans, aunts and friends kitted out in every shade of pink imaginable assembled on the start line to confront cancer.

Now organisers are saying a heart-felt ‘thanks’ to everyone who took part - and urging them to return their sponsorship money as soon as possible to fund vital research into 200 types of cancer.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in partnership with Tesco is an inspiring women-only series of events which raises millions of pounds every year to help defeat cancer by funding life-saving research.

Sam Beare, Race for Life event manager for Penzance, said: “We are so very grateful to all our participants, supporters and wonderful volunteers who helped make Race for Life in Penzance such an amazing event.

“Now the big day is over, we are asking everyone to take one last step – by returning the money they’ve raised so it can go into vital research to help more men, women and children survive cancer.”
