Wednesday was the last meeting of our 2012/13 programme, which we finished in style with a quiz compiled and delivered by Geoff James.
There were many dastardly questions this year and our memories and knowledge were severely tested. Examples were 'how did Marmite get its name?' (from a French cooking pot), 'what's unique about our postage stamps?' (they don't have our country named on them) and 'name the Teletubbies' (Tinky-winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po).
The winner on the evening was chairman Mark Walker, with second place going to a visitor, Debbie. Third place had to be decided by a tie-breaker as brothers Radnour and Teudor Acton-Page fought it out, with Teudor being victorious. There was also a prize for Jean Holbrook who brought up the rear.
Our summer programme starts on Sunday at 11am, with a visit to Blue Hills, Trevellas for the hill climb stage of the Motorcycling Club's annual Lands End Trial. Following that, we will go to the Great Flat Lode, meeting in the car park off Filtrick Road on Wednesday 19 June at 7pm.
Our programme and details of the club can be found on our website at www.penryncameraclub.org.uk
