Charlotte Osman-Loxley a very talented flautist was the guest artiste at Saturday's lunchtime concert, she was ably accompanied on the piano by Phil Davey.
The pieces were well chosen and superbly played. Lance Foy provided some organ solos. On Saturday at noon, Lucy Clitherow soprano and Rico Gerber piano, free entry, retiring collection. The Rev Stephen Tudgey celebrated the early morning said communion and the main sung eucharist for the first Sunday of Trinity and was assisted by Jan Winslade reader. John Pyatt and Sue McLaughlin read the lessons, Julie Foy led intercessions and concluded with a prayer to mark the anniversary of the Queen's coronation. A descant was sung to the hymn “O worship the King”. The theme continued with the choir singing Vaughan-Williams coronation anthem “O taste and see” with soloist Isabelle Taylor and Angus Webster concluding the service with “Crown Imperial” by William Walton.
Before evensong John Pyatt and Julie Foy arranged a tour of the bell tower and organ chamber for student members of the choir.
The priest-in-charge officiated at sung evensong and Barbara Martin and Alison Tudgey read lessons. The choir sang the anthem by Bob Chilcott “The Lord`s my Shepherd”. The service concluded with Coronation Fanfare by Arthur Bliss.
On Sunday: 8.30am, said communion; 10.30am, visiting preacher, the Archdeacon of Cornwall the Ven Bill Stuart White; 6pm, sung evensong. The following weekend is the Shanty Festival weekend: Festival service, June 16, 10.30am, with two shanty groups taking part and KCM choir. Guest preacher Canon Anthony Phillips. Lots of events taking place at the church, look out for posters.
