On Sunday the Rev Stephen Tudgey celebrated holy communion at 8.30am. This was followed at 10.30am by sung eucharist and the celebrant was Mr Tudgey.
This was KCM's annual Patronal Festival and the service began with the choir singing Bruckner's "Locus Iste" for the introit. Lessons were read by Robert Martin and Nigel Rimmer. The choir sang as anthem Mary Plumstead's "Close Thine Eyes", and the words were those of our Patron, King Charles 1. The organist was Angus Webster. Immediately following the service Mr Tudgey led the choir and congregation with toasts in honour of both Charles 1 and Charles 11, Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall. A special luncheon was held at The Falmouth Hotel in commemoration of our Patron and much enjoyed by us all.
A Choral Evensong at 6pm continued the Patronal Festival and was recorded for future broadcast on Falmouth and Penryn Local Community Radio. Mr Tudgey officiated and lessons were read by John Pyatt and Patrick Clarke. The choir sang Stanford's settings of the "Magnificat" and "Nunc Dimittis" and for the anthem sang Bairstow's "Blessed City, Heavenly Salem" conducted by Angus Webster and Michael Hoeg was the organist. The floodlighting has been sponsored for the next two weeks by Mrs Jean Chard in memory of her husband John.
