On Sunday Cafe worship was led by Deacon Michelle Legumi. We explored how we deal with difficult circumstances in our lives. We shared in small groups our recent low lights and highlights and then brought it all to God as we sang “Father I place into your hands”.
We heard four very different and honest accounts of how individuals deal with difficulties in life – Hazel Bevan, George Leggo, Jim Richards and Jean Northey.
The children were invited to draw pictures of what they find hard and we looked at them at the end of the service- most involved homework!
There was a short talk about God being our refuge using the text, underneath are the everlasting arms. This was followed by the song, “You raise me up so I can stand on mountains” led by George Leggo.
Everyone was given a piece of clay to make something that represented a refuge, shelter or safe place while they chatted about what helps them through the storms of life.
For our prayer time we used images of people in difficult circumstances including those involved in the floods, the Ukraine riots, South Sudan, those struggling with debt, unemployment and poor health. Over these images the song “O Lord hear our prayer” was played.
People found the service very moving and inspiring, especially the personal sharing. Cafe worship provides a relaxed, informal space to explore issues of life and faith using crafts, music, film, discussions and more.
All are welcome, 10am for refreshments to start formally at 10.30am. Next Sunday will be led by the Rev Aubin de Gruchy, Chaplain of Truro School with Truro School Choir.
