The club opened in 2014 with a quiz devised by Babs George and Julia Hill. Everyone concentrated hard, especially on the anagrams question which challenged all. Eventual winners were Trish Gay and Pauline Rowse and the booby prize was a tie between Linda and Vanessa, and Sally and Margaret. Rosemary Bray thanked Julia and Babs for their hard work.
At the next meeting members were welcomed at the cricket club for the annual darts tournament arranged by Anna and Angela. The ensuing light-hearted contest was most enjoyable, even for beginners and the pairing of Doreen and Janet triumphed. Angela presented the well deserved prizes, followed by supper.
Club leader Rosemary thanked the organisers and congratulated members on their input during the busy run up to Christmas. Fundraising at Mullion’s Lighting Up evening and the carol singing through the village had added considerably to the current total for the Samaritans Truro Branch. The beautiful handmade decorations for our orange-themed big Christmas Tree in the Chapel Festival had been much admired.
To conclude the January meetings members met for an hour of table top games. Attendance was rather depleted due to sickness, holidays and other commitments, but Linda Brown eventually triumphed in a frustrating snakes and ladders type treasure hunt called Spookey Old House.
February meetings start with the table tennis championship on the 3rd and the fundraiser for the month is at the Mullion Farmers market on Saturday, February 15, all are welcome to these events.
