President on Sunday was Roger Hosking and he welcomed the speaker, Gareth Jones and his family from Newquay and visitors from Weston and Solihull.
In the afternoon Gareth looked at the seven pillars of wisdom in Proverbs chapter 9 and he asked what wisdom really was. Gareth pointed to many kinds of wisdom and suggested from the Bible that it could be good judgement, knowledge with discretion, fear of the Lord, wise behaviour, understanding and insight and the power of wisdom which was of no use unless it was used wisely. The apostle James said we should show wisdom by our deeds and way of life.
After sharing tea Gareth told three stories about faith. Brought up in South Africa, Gareth used the example of the impala which will not jump unless it can see where to and suggested we should have the ability to trust what we cannot see and take a leap of faith.
In Acts chapter 17 we are reminded that God is not far from each of us and gives all the opportunity to turn to Him. As Jesus said “Faith can move mountains” and faith can enable everyone to step confidently into life through Him.
