What a dog's life New Year's Eve proved to be!
Kevardhu Zyva (pet name Zyva) an Italian Spinone, owned by Janet Neil of Briggan Farm Boarding Kennels, at Radnor, Redruth, was due to whelp on New Year's Day, but nature intervened and instead of being the first planned litter of 2007 they became the last litter of 2006 producing nine puppies - five girls and four boys.
New Year's Eve celebrations for Janet and her friend Nikki Cotterill were put on hold for the time being, due to lack of sleep and nursing duties over the next few weeks, as mother and pups will need a lot of looking after.
Zyva should be especially proud of her litter, as not only is she grandaughter to Crufts Best of Breed winner, show champion Kevardhu Lyha, but also daughter to Crufts Best of Breed winner, show champion Kevardhu Kyva.
The sire of the pups, imported from Italy by Janet, Ikon Del Subasio at Kevardhu, already has many progeny already qualified for Crufts in March 2007.
This winning combination should lead to a bright and promising future for all the puppies who will be eagerly awaiting their new homes in February.
