The former Packet printing works in Ponsharden is expected to be redeveloped by supermarket chain Lidl UK.
The company has been in discussion with Carrick council for some time and a report now going to the council's cabinet shows that the proposed development, which also takes in the adjoining former Woodstock site alongside Falmouth Road, could go ahead soon. It has been agreed to enter into an agreement which will see Carrick receiving a considerably increased annual rental income from the area.
Consultations have taken place with the existing tenant, Horizon Mobility Manufacturing, who have entered into an option agreement with Lidl.
