Round-the-world yachtsman Sir Robin Knox- Johnston had a surprise when he completed the first leg in his current adventure.
On arrival in Western Australia over the Christmas and New Year he met up with Mylor Bridge residents Will and Houston Russell, currently living in the area.
The pair greeted Sir Robin in Fremantle after his voyage from Spain. Sir Robin, who has close ties with Falmouth - where he arrived after his 1960s round-the-world voyage - was keen to catch up on news from home and know more about the Mylor residents down under.
He told them he had fond memories of Falmouth and would be returning as soon as possible.
In the background to the picture on the right, Sir Robin's yacht, Saga Insurance, can be seen being given an overhaul prior to the next leg of the Velox 5 Oceans solo round the world race.
At 67 years of age, Sir Robin, sailed through huge storms and overcame damage to his yacht to gain a podium place on the first leg from Bilbao, Basque Country Spain. He became the first man to sail, non-stop, around the world solo in 1968.
