SIX organisations for young people have shared the £800 collected by Falmouth Marine Band at the town carnival in August.
The money was handed out at a ceremony at the band's headquarters, the Star and Garter pub.
Band leader, Paul Wickes, said: "We had a fantastic response to our call for support for the carnival and none more than from the town's organisations for young people. While not belittling the support of all the other groups and individuals who helped make the new walking carnival such a success, we felt the money raised should go to support the youth of Falmouth."
So, last Thursday he handed out cheques for £133.33 each to: Falmouth Youth Club, the junior section of Falmouth Cricket Club, Falmouth Town juniors (football), Falmouth Rugby Club Minis, Falmouth and District Beavers, and Falmouth and District Cubs, all of whom took part in the carnival.
Because the carnival was organised at short notice there was no official record of exactly who took part. The Marine Band would, therefore, like to know - by letter to the Star and Garter, High Street, Falmouth - if any other youth organisations took part.
