While most people will be enjoying the safety of dry land, one group of intrepid watermen will be taking to the sea off Cornwall this weekend to do battle with the elements.
The windsurfers competing in the 'Red Bull Storm Chase Mission Three' will take to the water just as everyone else runs for cover, with the event taking place at one of four spots, Hayle, Gwithian, Newquay or Penzance/ Marazion.
Billed as "the most challenging windsurfing contest of all time", the event is the third of a series of three global hunts storms beyond wind force ten.
The decision to run the event was only taken a couple of days ago, when organisers saw the scale of the surf and wild weather that has been confirmed for Saturday.
The decision on where the event will take place will be made at the last minute depending on the weather and wave conditions. However it looks at this stage that it will be at Gwithian.
The website adds, "As lots of you are thinking about coming down here to watch live: Please bear in mind the competition is NOT set up as a public event."
Adding: "It's a free country, just saying, there's no shelter for the public, and we can't assume any liability."
