Indian, Russian and Polish seafarers spending the festive holiday at Falmouth docks on their respective ships had a surprise on Christmas morning when Mission to Seafarers volunteers delivered presents.
Falmouth's Mission to Seafarers chairman Penny Phillips, her partner Stuart Hall, dockmaster Paul Edwards, pilot David Barnicoat and the Rev Jon Robertshaw spent two hours visiting the ships Fiona, Spar Garnet and Tinno. A total of 50 gifts were distributed.
Penny said: "This is a busy time for the Mission to Seafarers worldwide. Here in Falmouth we like to play our role in ensuring seafarers have a happy Christmas.
"I would like to thank all the people who donated gifts and the committee and helpers for wrapping the gifts."
Spar Garnet's Indian master Captain Manish Kumar and his wife, Namita, have their young sons, Akash and Abhigyan, travelling with them. Penny arranged for both boys to receive selection boxes as part of their presents.
Packet shipping correspondent David Barnicoat said: "We had a most enjoyable and thoroughly rewarding two hours talking to the crews.
"From my seafaring days I know the Mission is held in high regard by seafarers of all races and creeds."
