THE preliminary round of the West Cornwall Pool League's team knockout was played last week and the league will continue on Monday, January 8.
Helston RBL F had the best win of the week with a 5-4 win over Paris B after trailing 4-1 at one point after five singles games.
Helston RBL B edged out Praa Sands Golf Club 5-4 with Matt Stephens clearing up in the last doubles to clinch the win while Paris A had a comfortable 5-0 win over Crown Inn B. First division teams Porthleven FC A and Mullion FC A both won 5-3 against Harbour A and Helston RBL D to go through to the next round as did the Prince of Wales B team who defeated Beehive A.
First round - Sunday, January 14: Helston CC A v Prince of Wales B, Helston RBL A v Helston RBL F, Porthleven FC A v Bell Inn, Helston RBL B v White Hart B, Three Tuns A v Helston CC B, White Hart C v Mullion FC A, Wendron CC v Beehive B, Helston FC A v Paris A.
One re-arranged league game was played in division three and the Godolphin Club moved into second spot with a 5-4 win over Gweek Inn C.
