The Cornwall Community Foundation is appealing for donations to a new "Emergency Storm Fund" to help with the aftermath of the recent storms.
The foundation is working with Cornwall Council and other agencies on the front-line who will be referring particular cases to the CCF, both individuals and community organisations/voluntary groups.
A spokesman said: "We need strong communities at times like these and we are very grateful to everyone who has supported our appeals this winter. We still urgently need donations and pledges to make sure we can help those most affected by the recent storms in Cornwall. With more storm warnings from the Met Office in place, we need to able to respond swiftly and be ready to help local people and their communities to recover.
"All money raised through this appeal by the Cornwall Community Foundation will be spent in Cornwall, delivering grants directly to people in an emergency crisis situation.
"Anyone wishing to apply for help should await an announcement which we shall make as soon as sufficient funds have been received. Community organisations can also look at other potential sources of funds on our website."
As a registered charity, the foundation has limited funds. Members of the public and business community who would like to help can donate to the fund by:
• Online at www.cornwallfoundation.com or www.justgiving.com/Cornwall-Emergency-Storm-Fund • By cheque payable to “Cornwall Community Foundation”, address: Suite 1, Sheers Barton, Lawhitton, Launceston, Cornwall, PL15 9NJ. (please write Emergency on the back of your cheque).
