In the absence of the preacher, Jenny Lockwood, who was unwell, the service was led by Alan Darvill who read from Matthew chapter 16 v 1-4 to commence the service.
The first hymn was “With gladness we worship.” Prayers were said by Emily Mitchell asking God for guidance for the future of the church.
Before the prayers of intercessions Peter Mehaffey spoke about miracles, how they are about trust in God. He then prayed asking God to be with us in all situations and circumstances. Prayers were said for those in care and nursing homes, those unwell, those who are suffering from flooding due to the adverse weather conditions and then in silence prayers were said for those known to us who need our prayers.
The closing hymn was “A charge to keep I have.” Pianist was Margaret Dancer. Tea and coffee was served at the close of the service.
The church anniversary will take place on Sunday, which will be a civic service led by the Rev Peter Facer at 10.30am, followed by a shared lunch.
