An item in the club's programme that never fails to attract interest is the visit by students from Falmouth University for an evening of photojournalism.
Chairman Dean Evans welcomed Mal Stone, senior lecturer, Press and editorial photography, who in turn introduced his team of undergraduates and also reported on the activities of former students who had now graduated.
Congratulations were extended to Annabelle Watson whose dramatic photo of the recent storm conditions at Porthleven was accepted by the Daily Telegraph and appeared on the front page.
Tom Pullen, now in his third year. gave an in-depth presentation of the activities of social clubs who catered for the blind and the partially-sighted.
Sam Barnes produced first-class action shots in his role of sports photographer and, in contrast, Julia Nottingham presented a portfolio featuring Cornish bards.
Among others who contributed to this first-class evening were Amy Romer, Dave Blanks, Lauren Stevens and supporting pupils.
President Alan Cox thanked all who had taken part and hoped the link with the college would continue.
A three-way inter-club competition is scheduled for this week's activities when Falmouth entertain St Ives and Helston, and when Thelma Hope is the judge.
Entries are being accepted for the Ted Pimlott Trophy for creative photography, the subject being "A vehicle".
All meetings are held at the Athenaeum Club on Thursdays at 7.30pm.
