METHODIST CHURCH: There was no service on Sunday morning. The appointed preacher for Sunday is Mr C Smith at 11am. Following the success of the Christmas Lunch £70 was sent to ShelterBox.
VILLAGE HALL: Cash Bingo returns on Thursday, February 27 at 7.30pm – raffle and licensed bar; monthly whist drive will be held on Thursday, February 20 at 7.30pm; coffee mornings continue each Thursday from 9–11am; Post Office from 9am-1pm.
The table top sale raised £205 towards the re-pointing of the St Corentyn Church tower project which will cost £14,000. Priscilla Oates thanked all who came to buy goods and also those manning the stalls. Refreshments were served by Jenny Smith and Sue Garner.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The AGM took place last week. After a short business meeting and the reports from officers the elections took place with Jenny Smith being re-elected as president; vice presidents, Shirley Finch and Brenda Lawrance; treasurer, Jeanette Dodd; secretary, Lynda Lee. In her report Jenny said the lunch given to the children of Cury School in December to celebrate their 200th anniversary had been a great success. She said that the Head Teacher would like to see the WI getting more involved with the school. County adviser Avril Woolcock said how pleased she was to see Cury WI in such a vibrant position and wished them all the best for the future. She then presented the cups to the winners for the competitions throughout the year - Flower of the month: 1, Sue Garner; 2, Brenda Lawrance; 3, Jenny Smith/Jenny Andersen. Competitions: 1, Brenda; 2, Jenny Smith; 3, Mo Russell/M Jennings/Sue.
Avril pointed out some county events that are taking place this year and especially in 2015 when the WI nationally will be celebrating their Centenary. A team for the quiz at Helston WI was arranged. Jenny thanked David and Sue Ashworth for our new cupboard that David made for us.

After the business meeting was finished members enjoyed the social half-hour organised by Jenny and Frances.
