Canon David Miller both presided and preached at parish communion, in which he was assisted by the Rev Dorothy Noakes and Betty Booker, lay reader.
Canon David began by thanking everyone in the church for their contribution towards making last week’s confirmation in holy communion so wonderful.
Then it was onto another vibrant community, that of Corinth about 20 years after Jesus’ resurrection, which St Paul addressed in a letter that has helped every Christian community since. Chiefly, Paul needed to show that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God, whose love finds its supreme expression in the person of Jesus Christ; simple truths simply expressed.
Maureen Grattan-Kane read the lesson and the choir sang the anthem “A new commandment” conducted by Chris Bradbury and accompanied by Richard Berry, organist.
