THE self-elevating platform JB115 remains at anchor east of the number five buoy awaiting a fine weather window to resume her tow to Holyhead. The state of the art vessel was towed into port to seek shelter by the tug Vortex assisted by the tug Bugsier 21.
The Singapore built JB 115 measures 55 metres x 32 metres. She is equipped with a 300 tonne capacity crane and can land a Puma helicopter. Up to 160 personnel are accommodated when the vessel is working on a construction project.
The tug Vortex is a highly versatile tug. She is designed for both escort operations and harbour work, as well as ocean towage. With equipment for oil recovery, fire fighting, and salvage in open waters onboard she is ready for any kind of operation.
