An exhibition of paintings entitled The Art of Design' by John Faupel is being held at Chy Gwella, 53 Morrab Road - a few houses down from the Penlee Gallery and Museum in Penzance, from January 13 to February 9.
Even though many of the designs have their genesis in nature itself, they offer an intriguing break from representational art.
Here you will see a world of strange ideas turned upside-down, inside out and back-to-front, with a little humour thrown in for good measure. Although one can detect traces of the golden section', and fractal geometry in the designs of several of these unusual art-works, they do not appear to derive from any recognisably established style or ancestry.
You may not therefore have seen their likes anywhere in Cornwall before but why not judge for yourselves? Perhaps you will be in for an extraordinary surprise.
