Morning prayer on Sunday was taken by the Rev Heather Aston. In her sermon she said that we are lucky today in the many ways we can read and examine the scriptures, whereas when Jesus was preaching only the scribes and Pharisees had access.
Jesus interpreted the ancient Jewish law and made it relevant for the day, but always emphasised the overriding injunction to love God and our neighbour. Lessons were read by Pauline Arnold and the Rev Aston.
The service on Sunday will be a eucharist at 9.30am celebrated by the Rector, the Rev Lesley Walker.
There will be a coffee morning and Jumble Sale in the Vyvyan Coach House (outside the church) on Saturday, February 22, from 10.30am to noon.
