METHODIST CHURCH: The service on Sunday, together with holy communion, was conducted by the Rev Harry Chant of Helston. The theme was “creation and trust”. Readers were Nicky Lawrence and Jacqui Milner. An added pleasure was Mr Chant playing his trumpet for the final hymn along with Mavis Harper on the organ.
The mobile library is due on Friday outside the church from 9.40-9.55am and thereafter fortnightly. Any queries please telephone 0300 1234 111.
PRIMARY SCHOOL: In assembly on Friday the children were rewarded for their attendance for the half-term. Star, Charlotte and Luis, members of the Godolphin School Youth Speaks team, won the Helston area competition organised by the Cober Valley Rotary Club. Teams from Godolphin, St Michael’s, Sithney and Parc Eglos schools competed and spoke confidently on a range of subjects including Fairtrade, sea pollution, electronic devices for children and Kindles versus books.
The team from Godolphin won the contest with a speech entitled “Tourism in Cornwall” and they now go forward to the next round of the competition to be held at Penwith College.
