Lucretia Pooley opened the February meeting by praising everyone for turning out on such a nasty evening.
Jennie was thanked for all her hard work in making our Christmas party such a success. Names were taken for our annual lunch visit to Cornwall College which will take place on Friday, February 28. Names of future speakers and suggestions from members were then discussed. Plans for monthly outings were also discussed, suggestions being a visit to Penlee Art Gallery, a river trip, a walk in the park followed by lunch in the cafe and croquet hosted very kindly by Elizabeth.
It was decided that a donation to Marie Cury would be organised rather than holding a coffee morning as this proved very successful last year and a good result is expected this year.
The business having been concluded Lucretia then welcomed our speakers, beauticians Ann and Laura who demonstrated on two of our members. This was very interesting and many new techniques were learnt.
The competition “Tips for beautiful hands”: 1, Maureen Dale; 2, Mary; 3, Yvonne. The flower of the month was won by Elizabeth with a snowdrop. The raffle prize was won by Maureen.
Our March meeting is the AGM and our speaker will be Freida Curnow who will be entertaining with a talk and slides on Egypt. This will take place on March 13 and everyone is welcome.
