The preacher for Sunday morning worship was Irene Sampson from Marazion, who took the theme of “Encouragement”, concentrating mainly on different episodes from the life of Barnabas, the disciple whose quiet work in the background enabled Paul, amongst others, to undertake an effective Christian ministry.
The service included an element of personal testimony from the preacher. Lessons were read by Jeff Mount and Palfrey Turner, the organist was David Philp.
The vestry service in the evening was led by the minister, the Rev Beverly Turner, and included holy communion. The sermon was preached by Paul Benney, minister in training, and discussed the different ways in which the various gospel writers dealt with the institution of holy communion. Friends from Breaney and Chynhale chapels also attended the service. Pianist was John Gilbert.
On Sunday, March 9 at 6.30pm the chapel will host a special Songs of Praise event, to raise funds for the Porthleven Fishermen’s Association Emergency Fund. There is an open invitation to members of the public, including friends from other churches, to attend this event to show support for our fishermen at this very difficult time. Tea and biscuits will follow the service.
